Master’s Thesis

  • Title: A vision transformer-based method for figure question answering 
    Supervisor: Dr. Ali Nadian-Ghomsheh
    Summary: Developed a new dataset to enhance Figure Question Answering (FQA), a subtask of Visual Question Answering (VQA). The research focused on expanding the variety of figures and question types to evaluate how increased complexity impacts model performance. The study involved:
  • Designing and generating a dataset with diverse figures, incorporating various visual structures and question-answer pairs.
  • Implementing a deep learning model using Vision Transformer (ViT) to extract spatial and contextual features from figures.
  • Exploring the impact of figure complexity and question diversity on model accuracy and generalization.
