The “Right-Wing Violence” Thematic Portal Is Now Online

Karlsruhe, April 28, 2026 — The “Right-Wing Violence” thematic portal (www.themenportal-rechtegewalt.de) is now available for information and research. In its initial phase, the portal documents key incidents of far-right and right-wing terrorist violence in Germany during the second half of the 20th century and the early 21st century, and provides an overview of relevant documents from various sources, such as government institutions, civil society initiatives, and independent archives. A particular focus is placed on the victims and their personal circumstances.

The project is realized jointly by the Federal Archives, the State Archives of Baden-Württemberg, and FIZ Karlsruhe – Leibniz Institute for Information Infrastructure on behalf of the Federal Commissioner for Culture and the Media. FIZ Karlsruhe is responsible for the technical implementation and operation of the portal.

The “Right-Wing Violence” thematic portal makes an important contribution to documenting and coping with acts of right-wing violence in Germany, as well as to raising awareness of current xenophobic and far-right extremist developments. It also documents the legal prosecution of these crimes. In this way, the new platform creates a central digital hub for consolidating, preserving, and making accessible knowledge about far-right extremist and right-wing terrorist violence.

The “Right-Wing Violence” thematic portal is being developed as part of the Archivportal-D within the German Digital Library (DDB). It is scheduled to undergo further expansion in terms of both content and technical capabilities over the coming months.
