Data privacy in library and information science

Thomas Hartmann, lecturer at Humboldt University, Berlin, teaches data privacy basics relevant for libraries and information institutions. Participants in the master's program in library and information science have an opportunity to discuss what they should pay attention to when collecting, storing, transmitting and otherwise using data, especially in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation. In the summer semester 2020, a special on COVID-19 will deal with the precautions that people working from home should take to ensure that data privacy and data security requirements are met.
