In the project “Development of an infrastructure for implementing subject-related points of access within Archivportal-D on the example of the subject area „Weimar Republic“ a subject-related point of access was created in Archivportal-D (www.archivportal-d.de). In the follow-up project that just started, the project consortium will now complement this point of access with content from further archives and thus establish the subject-related point of access “Weimar Republic“ as a comprehensive research tool for archive holdings from that time.

""

In addition to the subject area "Weimar Republic", which was chosen as an implementation example, a large number of future thematic approaches are conceivable, in accordance with the large number of focal points of historical research and the diversity of the archive holdings. To this end, the partners will further develop the research functionalities according to the needs of researchers into a facetted search according to different entity types (subject terms, places, persons, corporations, etc.). They will also enable a stronger involvement of the research community in the preparation of the archival indexing information for the subject-related points of access.

In the follow-up project, FIZ Karlsruhe will generalize and optimize the components developed in the first stage in order to enable their subsequent usability. The Information Service Engineering unit will optimize the allocation function and evaluation of various allocation procedures. E-Research finalizes the prototype of the indexing tool and transfers it into production.
