Lebenslauf und Publikationen Dr. Moritz Schubotz

Moritz Schubotz erforscht als Wissenschaftler in der Abteilung für Mathematik von FIZ Karlsruhe Methoden und Werkzeuge, um mathematisches Wissen maschinenlesbar zu machen. Als theoretischer Physiker und promovierter Informatiker überträgt er aktuelle Forschungsergebnisse aus der Informatik auf die besonderen Informationsbedarfe von Mathematikern und Wissenschaftler angrenzender Fachbereiche. Gemeinsam mit den Doktoranden André Greiner-Petter, Philipp Scharpf und Felix Petersen von der Bergischen Universität Wuppertal evaluiert er Methoden, um mathematisches Wissen besser zugänglich zu machen. Als Wikimedia Open Science Fellow ist er Botschafter der Open-Science-Bewegung und fühlt sich den FAIR-Data-Prinzipien verpflichtet. Gemeinsam mit den Doktoranden Cornelius Ihle und Stephan Leible von der Bergischen Universität Wuppertal untersucht er das Potential von Blockchain-Technologie, um die Open-Science-Prinzipien wirkungsvoll umzusetzen.

Moritz Schubotz ist seit 2014 Kollaborationspartner des National Institute for Standards and Technology in den USA und war von Juli 2017 bis August 2018 über das DAAD FIT-weltweit-Programm am National Institute für Informatik in Tokio. Zuvor hatte er seine Promotion zum Thema „Augmentation mathematischer Formeln zur effizienteren Auffindbarkeit und zur effektiven Darstellung“ im März 2017 an der TU Berlin abgeschlossen. Insgesamt hat er in seiner wissenschaftlichen Laufbahn über 30 wissenschaftliche Artikel publiziert und an einer Vielzahl von Drittmittelanträgen mitgearbeitet. Darüber hinaus engagierte er sich in verschiedenen Gremien der akademischen Selbstverwaltung (u. a. Fakultätsrat, Haushaltsausschuss, Akademischer Senat).

In seiner Freizeit entwickelt er Open-Source-Software für die Wikimedia-Bewegung und findet im Wassersport seinen sportlichen Ausgleich.
