Curriculum Vitae and Publications Thilo Gottschalk

Thilo Gottschalk is a legal research associate at the Leibniz Institute for Information Infrastructure - FIZ Karlsruhe. He received his law degree from Philipps-University Marburg and was research associate with Stanford University in Cambodia monitoring the Khmer Rouge Trials before the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia. Nowadays, his research is focused on legal implications of data processing for law enforcement purposes with a particular interest in novel policing methods, IT security, software development, data protection and privacy. He held a leading position in the legal, ethical and societal work package in the EU-Project TITANIUM. With knowledge of the legal and ethical matters as well as in full stack development (JS/JSX, React, Python) he is focusing on challenges at the interface of law and technology. He is currently involved in the EU-Project ITFLOWS, member of the IEEE DAPPS conference commitee and as well as the legal and ethical advisory board of the EU-Project COPKIT.
