Proud to be part of it: 30 years of the Leibniz Association with FIZ Karlsruhe as a member from the very beginning

Karlsruhe, March 31, 2025 — 30 years of the Leibniz Association: FIZ Karlsruhe would like to congratulate the Leibniz Association on this anniversary. As a committed member from the very beginning on the “Blue List“, we look back with great pride on the development of a community that has become an important cornerstone of the German scientific landscape over the past three decades - a development that FIZ Karlsruhe has actively accompanied and helped to shape.

Especially in times of social, political and technological challenges, the relevance of a strong scientific community is clearer than ever. The Leibniz Association stands for excellent research, social responsibility and scientific diversity. Above all, however, it stands for active cooperation across national, disciplinary and institutional boundaries.

For FIZ Karlsruhe, to be a member of the Leibniz Association is not only a testament to scientific quality, but also an important source of inspiration for our further development. It provides the framework for creating synergies, pursuing innovative approaches, for example in the field of AI, and effectively contributing our core competencies in the field of information infrastructures.

A current example of this fruitful collaboration is the Leibniz ScienceCampus - Digital Transformation of Research (DiTraRe).  An interdisciplinary research project between KIT Karlsruhe and FIZ Karlsruhe has been created here in the spirit of Leibniz. Researchers from a wide range of faculties in four research clusters are investigating how digital tools influence their daily work - from data collection and analysis to publication and communication.

Of course, the anniversary is an occasion for celebration, but also a welcome moment to pause and take stock together. Leibniz President Prof. Dr. Martina Brockmeier also emphasizes how important it is for all planned events under the motto “Free Science. Strong research” to look into the future.

Particularly with a view to the coming decades, it is clear that a strong scientific coalition such as the Leibniz Association will make a decisive contribution to addressing social, technological and ecological challenges in a well-founded manner - and to jointly developing answers for tomorrow. FIZ Karlsruhe is proud to be a committed member of this community. We look forward to actively shaping the future.
