Equal opportunity is anchored as a fundamental value in the mission statement of FIZ Karlsruhe and is a central aspiration in our daily work. True equal opportunitiy means that women and men are promoted and supported equally. The goal is a balanced proportion of women and men in all areas of work and on all organizational levels. This requires fair framework conditions. FIZ Karlsruhe is guided by the Implementation Agreement on Equal Opportunities (AV-Glei) of the Joint Science Conference (GWK) on the equality of women and men in joint research funding.

Equality

FIZ Karlsruhe promotes the professional equality of women and men and supports them specifically in their professional careers. Thus, the equality of women and men is to be accompanied, among other things, by an Equal Opportunities Officer. This person is elected by the female employees. Her task is also to visibly promote and support diversity in the working environment of FIZ Karlsruhe. For us, diversity means the greatest possible variety in age, nationality, faith, gender or sexual identity of the employees, as well as the appreciation of diversity in our daily work. We strictly reject any form of discrimination in language and action. Diversity is a desired prerequisite for a successful research institute. The "Diversity Charter", among others, serves as orientation. In 2024, we signed the Diversity Charter, thus demonstrating our commitment to promoting diversity.

Reconciling family and career is also an important building block in the equality of women and men. As the holder of the "auditberufundfamilie" certificate, we are committed to continuing to make our existing family-friendly measures transparent and visible and to actively support the compatibility of family and career. This expressly addresses both men and women, so that all employees can fulfill their roles within the family.
